Behind the scenes with the GOAT
18 May 2020
There was much hype before the release of this 10-part documentary series and it definitely lived up to it big time! MJ's last season with the Bulls was a wild roller-coaster ride where championship number 6 was anything but a given. The episodes feature all of the major players in the incredible story of the Michael Jordan and Chicago Bulls dynasty covering its rise up until to its triumphant conclusion.

An intimate portrait of an icon
30 April 2020
A very intimate documentary depicting the controversial, underground cartoonist Robert Crumb along with most of his immediate family, riddled with psychological issues and sicknesses, mental issues and disturbing events. The documentary shows Crumb in all of his artistic genius while also trying to figure out the unique, complex, artistic, troubling, contradict and sometimes even perverse personality that is Robert Crumb. Definitely worth a watch not just for Crumb fans but any movie buff appreciating a good character study.

Fast, slick and cool
2 April 2020
"The Gentlemen" shows the classic Guy Ritchie we all know and love. It is fast paced, action packed and fun. Every role is cast perfectly, the script is fun and engaging, the characters memorable, the soundtrack rocking and the direction is on point. If you are a fan of "Snatch" and "Two Smoking Barrels" than this is right up your alley and a must watch.

Complete Chaos and Mayhem
31 March 2020
One of the most surreal documentary series you can find. The people pictured in this series are a cast of a bunch of the weirdest and wackiest characters you can think of and the only thing stranger than the characters are the situations they constantly find themselves into. A great and highly entertaining series proving once again that sometimes life can be stranger than any fiction out there.

A Profoundly Intimate Experience
24 March 2020
A story about a boy and his mother locked up in a room for a number of years and their subsequent troubles adapting to the real world. It is incredibly well acted and cast. The focal point of the movie being Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay with their flawless performances and great on screen chemistry. It is a very intimate story that creeps up on you and leaving you pondering for days. The movie refuses to use cheap emotional tricks or graphic violence or scares to draw you in. It slowly builds up the relationship between the two main characters making you invested in their story and their future by trying to show a terrifying event happening to real people as well as the struggles they face in its aftermath.

Unforgettable and remarkable
19 March 2020
What can you say about not just one of the best Yugoslav films ever, but of Europe's as well? It tells a story about a young gypsy boy in rural Yugoslavia and all of the changes he goes through as he gets trust into a world he is totally unaware of and unprepared for. "Time of the Gypsies" is an accurate portrait of life on the Balkans, filled with laughter, humor and happiness contrasted with utter despair, tragedy and conflict. An incredible study not just of a character but of a people from one of Europe's best directors.

An Unique Cinematic Experience
19 March 2020
Victoria maybe one of the best films to come out of Europe in the last 20 years. First of all it is incredibly unique. Shot in only one take, telling the story of one night in real time while effortlessly changing locations and using countless extras choreographed to perfection. It is wonderful to look at with great cinematography taking the one take technique to unseen heights. The story is interesting, the characters engaging and the acting is top notch leaving you on the edge of your seat for the whole duration of the one take.

Denzel at His Best
27 February 2020
Denzel Washington shines in this movie about a crooked, burnt-out cop taking on a wide eyed rookie as his partner, proving once again that he is one of the best actors of his generation. His performance is incredible and he commands the screen every time he is in a scene. The suburban streets never seemed so real, depressing and raw showing us that maybe the ones designated to make a community safer and more prosperous are actually the cancer that drags it further down.

Even WWII can be hilarious with Taika!
9 February 2020
The film follows the last days of WWII through the naive eyes of a 10 year old boy brought up in the Third Reich. Taika Waititi proves himself once again as a once in a generation comedic genius who is able to portray a story that is hilarious, tragic and heartwarming at the same time while depicting a troupe of wacky characters that don't feel out of place. The cast is phenomenal, starring the young Roman Griffin Davis as the titular character and rounded up by comedic heavy-hitters like Taika Waiti, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Rebel Wilson and Stephen Merchant. The visuals are colorful and interesting, while the editing and pacing is flawless. One of the best of 2019 for sure.

An Incredibly Touching Story
21 January 2020
A simple tale of two siblings and a pair of shoes executed perfectly by Majid Majidi. The story is emotional, humorous, sad and inspiring all at the same time. The acting is on par with any Hollywood A-Lister, where the child actors especially shine. The scenes all have a raw feel to them showing us the poverty stricken lives of our protagonists where something so simple as a pair of shoes can mean the world to them. A great watch!

A movie that literally sparked a religion! Almost the whole script is quotable, the characters are legendary, the visuals unique and it is just hilarious and fun from the opening scene to the end credits. With this movie the Cohen Brothers cemented their legacy as Hollywood royalty and it is one of the most fondly remembered, beloved and critically acclaimed movies of the 90's.

Nucky Thompson is fierce!
20 December 2019
A great show covering the prohibition era in the US and all of the shady, underground figures that emerged during that period. Visually it is incredible, capturing the essence of the period with amazing and very detailed set designs and costumes. The script is flawless, sharp and filled with all the gangster lingo you expect. The camera and editing work is very creative with a lot of unique shots and edits. The soundtrack is just excellent and puts you right back into the roaring '20. All of this is, of course, rounded up by a cast that is flawless from the starring players to the supporting ones, headlined by the impeccable Steve Buscemi who is a scene stealer from the pilot until the last frames of the finale.

The Crown Jewel Of Partisan Films
20 December 2019
The Battle of Neretva is the most epic movie ever made in Yugoslavia. A true blockbuster with an ensemble cast which includes not only the top names of Yugoslav cinema but also world known actors like Orson Welles and Yul Brynner. It was shot on an epic scale never before seen on the Balkans including numerous extras and even two large scale replicas of the historic bridge on the river Neretva that was blown up during WWII. Until this day it is the most expensive movie to ever come out of this region. It maybe the most beautiful looking movie that came out on the Balkans with breathtaking external shots on par with Hollywood productions at the time. The musical score is timeless and the production design incredibly intricate. Add to that the movie poster which was designed by the one and only Pablo Picasso and you got yourself arguably the fondest remembered Partisan film ever.

Raw and emotional
19 December 2019
An emotional depiction of a couples divorce may be one of the best films of the decade. It has a phenomenal script with some really great directing but what sets this movie apart are the incredible performances by the leading actors - Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. They play incredibly of each other making every scene more memorable then the previous one. It is a dissection of marriage life in our modern times with all the complex emotions, relationships and strain it can take with it. Definitely a must watch and a movie that will be fondly remembered by all film buffs all over the world.

"Der Untergang" is an amazingly realistic portrayal of the last days of Adolf Hitler and The Third Reich, filled with amazing cinematography, great editing, large scale set pieces mixed with intimate performances of the whole cast headlined by the incredible Bruno Ganz. His performance is what holds the movie together. It is raw, realistic and no other movie portrayal of Hitler doesn't even come close. A masterpiece of cinema and masterclass in acting that will be remembered for years to come.

A Triumph of The Human Spirit
22 October 2019
A touching and emotional documentary telling the surreal story of Iron Maiden's concert in war torn Sarajevo in 1994. Filled with interviews of die hard fans who risked their lives just to be at the concert, the struggles of organizing such an event in the middle of a war as well as the experiences of the band members and how that one concert shaped all of their lives. "Scream For Me Sarajevo" is a special documentary showing that the human spirit can't be tied down or defeated no matter the circumstances.

A symbolic clash of classes
11 October 2019
An intricate depiction of the society classes forming in every modern society around the world. Rightfully asking the question: "Who is living of whom?" It is filled to the brim with metaphors examining the cultural clashes between two very different families from vastly different social standings, headlined by a very strong script and fleshed out characters. Furthermore, it has amazing cinematography with some creative editing choices, great sets and the shot selections are flawless.

A movie headlined by the incredible, once in a lifetime performance by Joaquin Phoenix portraying the Clown Prince of Crime. Phoenix's performance is one for the ages! It is emotional, twisted, fearless, strange and stunning and is on par with the legendary performance of Heath Ledger from The Dark Knight. Furthermore, "Joker" is exceptionally directed with a unique style never before seen in superhero movie. It's visuals are beautiful, the shots are unique and the editing flawless. Definitely one of the best movies of 2019!

One of the best British sitcoms of all time brings us the adventures of brothers Del, Rodney, grandad and, later on, their uncle Albert. Hailed for the performances, scripts, culture impact and durability. Full of memorable characters, iconic one liners and extremely quotable, providing us with few of the most iconic moments in British TV history which transcented the island and reached a worldwide audience and admirasion.

A timeless classic
18 September 2019
An excellent example of movie making that is impressive and still holds up to this day. The camera movement, the long shots, the composition and actor movements are executed to perfection, making this viewing a one of a kind. The story is gripping, revolving around a murder trial of a Latino boy accused of killing his father and the twelve men who will decide his faith. The cast does a great job with the portrayal of the various jurors and the complex reasons they lean to one verdict or the other presenting us with twelve massively different characters each with his own flaws and his own views of morality and human nature. An amazing feat of cinema rightfully considered on of the crown jewels of Old Hollywood.

Political parody and satire done perfectly!
18 August 2019
One of the best modern U.S. comedy shows is a must see for any comedy fan out there! It is clever, fast paced, incredibly funny and it pokes fun at all of the political tropes we come to expect form politicians all over the world. The cast is just amazing, especially Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the main protagonist Selina Meyer and the standout performance of Tony Hale as series favorite Gary Walsh. There is not a single dull moment in this series as the characters try to establish themselves in the world of D.C. politics where backstabbing and plotting is an everyday occurrence.

Breaking Bad is as close as you can get to a perfect TV show. The story, the acting, the characters, the directing and editing, the cast... Everything is done with such care and attention to detail that it catapults it past any show past or present. Can't recommend it enough and a must see in my opinion.

22 July 2019
One of the funniest TV shows in recent memory with a stellar cast and scripts that are incredibly funny and witty. The jokes come at you fast and often so it is an ideal show for repeat watching, where you always find something new that you missed before. A critical darling for a good reason and a "future classic" that should be appreciated for years to come.
