Accused: Tracie's Story (2012)
Sean Bean is Amazing
The extremely versatile and talented Sean Bean plays Simon/Tracy. Simon is a man with a mundane teaching career by day, by night he is Tracy a drag queen that satisfies men. One day he meets Tony - a man fascinated by Tracy. Tracy and Tony begin to see each other and one night Tracy tells Tony that he/she believes he is married - Tony lies and says his wife died. They continue their relationship and the begin fall in-love. What happens in the end I cannot reveal - but I can say this episode is well worth watching - just have a couple of handkerchiefs handy.
Good - But Not Long Enough
The film is satisfying for the most part - I just wished there was another hour tagged onto the ending which would show us how he created some of his legendarium.
The film mainly focuses on his friendships and romance with Edith in school - very little of the war was shown. Also showed his relationships with a couple of his teachers.
You will easily see in the film how things connected to his books - hidden references as well obvious ones.
Very good movie if you like biographies, romances and/or Tolkien.
Eye of the Devil (1967)
Not What I Was Hoping For
I have no idea what I was really hoping for out of this film - it's good don't get me wrong but was a bit dull for my tastebuds. I normally enjoy these films of the 60s but this one just didn't do it for me.
Eye of the Cat (1969)
Ailurophobia is the fear of cats - our star, Michael Sarrazin, has got it badly. This is one of the better movies where our feline house cats are made to look fiercely deadly to humans. Give this film a try -- really good.
Home for the Holidays (1972)
Pretty Good Horror-Thriller
Decent horror-thriller from the 1970s. Some of the acting is a bit over the top but I expect it from these older films. Worth watching - recommended
Night of Terror (1972)
I generally love these 1970s TV movies - especially the thrillers and horrors but this one I found lame - not much of a story to keep my interest though I do believe others my like this film - give it a chance!
Rearview Mirror (1984)
Decent TV Thriller - ending is somewhat predictable but overall an good watch. The acting in this one is top notch. Good story.
BOORRRRINGGGG! Was not remotely interested in this - I love a good thriller/horror but this sucked. The film might interest some viewers but I just couldn't like it.
The People (1972)
Snail's pace. Too mellow and drab - really needed some spice mixed in. The lead actress is monotoned though out most of it which turns into a snooze fest quickly. I like the idea behind the film but it's just to dull for me.
Through Naked Eyes (1983)
Watch for David Soul Only
David Soul is the only good thing about this film - seriously. I enjoy TV films of the 70s and 80s but this one was not my cup of tea. It took way to long to get to the murderer - the reason we are watching the film.
What a very lame film. I normally love the old made for TV movies of the 1970s - most are diamonds in the rough but this one is just terrible. Over acting, not much of a decent story and - just all over dull film.
One good scene about 10 minutes into the film then it's all down hill. Predictable, average and mildly interesting. I guess I was hoping for more since Lynda Carter is the star but it fell greatly after 30 minutes into it.
If you are looking for a film to put you to sleep - you got one right here. Usually I enjoy the 1970s TV movies and the disaster flick but this one was just drawn out and boring. Took them half the film to get to the small isolated town but the problems began from the start.
Very beautiful presentation of the story and informative explanations of the literature. In the end, it talks of Tolkien's influences on rock music. Very good documentary - recommend to Tolkien fans!
A Midsummer Night's Dream (1935)
A very lush and dreamy screen adaption of Shakespeare's play. The sets are amazing - the costumes are beautiful! Very good! Worth the time to watch if you enjoy plays on film and beautiful fantasies.
Der Fluch der Menschheit (1920)
I guess I expected more from this film. I watched it only for Bela Lugosi - and it's his earliest surviving film. I wanted to like this movie - I really did but the film really lacked a better story.
Black Beauty (1994)
Lovely film! I read the book as a teen, I remembered enjoying it. The film: I confess I bought the film for Sean Bean - but would have enjoyed it even if he wasn't in the movie.
Beauty's story almost brought me to tears a few times -- mainly the relationship of him and Ginger - got the feels watching.
The Haunted (1991)
Pretty Good Ghost Story
Pretty good ghost story & is worth watching if you like this sorta thing but it's nothing new to see - your typical "ghost story": They move into a new place, the haunting starts slow then builds up to getting more violent, priest gets called in to bless the place which makes the ghosts/demons more angry and then they move out in the end.
The Haunting of Sarah Hardy (1989)
YAWN! Not a Ghost Story
I like Morgan Fairchild and Selea Ward but this is a terrible film. The film brings nothing new to the table - it's your basic thing: Rich woman, her husband and his lover - the husband and lover wants to drive her to suicide and take "all that money" (as they say). Nothing new - YAWN!
The Haunting of Helen Walker (1995)
Good Ghost Story
This one is based on Henry James' classic tale "Turn of the Screw".
This is a slower burner - it is a drama with bits of subtle spookiness at the beginning but by then end of the film there are several creepy scenes.
I can't give away the film's ending for first time viewers but I can say that Miles (the boy in the film) I wanted to paddle his butt thoughout most of the movie but towards the ending you'll understand why he acted that way - and it's sickening what was going on with him and his sister Flora. Worth watching!
"I Told Ya, They Were In A Store" - HaHa
Best parts of the film is towards the beginning listing to the lady tell them "I told ya, there were in a store" -- I thought it was going to be a comedy-horror from that. The other fun part is about one hour into the flick when the Devil, Adrian aka Andrew, is rocking out at the party in his white clown face make-up!! Outside of those two things that were funny - the film is NOT worth watching.
I suggest passing this film - it really is awful.
Nightmare on the 13th Floor (1990)
Not That Good
I agree that this is sorta a Nancy Drew story as our main character, Elaine Kalisher, tries to find out what is going on - we watch her solve the mystery that we already know the answer to.
Not a great film but an okay watch for killing an hour and a half if nothing else to do or watch.
This film does not have a lot of gore - but some blood. They put more into an actual story and suspense than special gory effects - which I like about the film.
The story is basically 2 men in-love with the same woman - they used to be best friends but time changed that. During the course of the film, their old friendship strengthens again but so does the Ouija. There is no real reason the Ouija does what it's doing but if it didn't we would not have a film.
Satan's School for Girls (1973)
Elizabeth's sister was found hanging in Elizabeth home. Elizabeth does not believe her sister committed suicide so she joins the girl's school that her sister went to in order to conduct her own investigation as to what happened to her sister.
The title gives away the ending of the film. It's not a bad movie but not as good as I expected it to me - I had higher hopes for it.
Devil Dog: The Hound of Hell (1978)
I Was Hoping For Better
I really was hoping for a better movie from this one -- not sure what I was expecting or wanting out of it but it wasn't what I got from it. The idea behind the film is good -- girl's birthday and gets a dog for a present and the family unaware that it's a demon dog but the way it was executed wasn't great.
