The Bushido Blade (1981)
Great white men can defeat any number of samurais. And the inferior Japanese women fall in love with them for sure. The plot strongly reminds of Soleil Rouge - stolen sword, Japanese and American hero unites to get it back. The character of the captain is pretty simple: "We need this treaty signed!" and "How can we sign this treaty?!"
I was also surprised seeing not one but two pair if tits in this movie. I don't remember the "movie-action-level" of the eighties but the fighting scenes in this movie are pretty weak, however in some scenes the motion and the costumes seem to be perfect - for example when Tomoe brings the captain some tea at the castle of Yamato.
The movie made me read the books and watch the TV series
I don't get why all those people "who-read-the-books-before-Adams-wrote-them" were so offended by the movie, saying stuff like "don't watch it", "it's rubbish", "Adams would have gone mad" etc. You all know (don't you?) the screenplay was written by Adams, the additional characters were added by Adams, and the Guide itself is far from a "round and complete" novel (like War and Peace for example).
The movie was funny. It made me to read the books in original - I was a bit disappointed, I'll have to read a translation, too, I guess - and watch the TV series.
I give 10 just to balance those moron zeros and ones.
the last scene just shocked me
the final scene just shocked me. The whole movie is - as I expected - just the same "great action stuff" with all the booms and chases, blow-ups and the all-important "Are you X.Z.?" "Yes?" - Bang-bang-bang scenes.
A bit unnatural is the link between John Connor and the haven't-seen-her-for-a-long-time-schoolmate C. Brewster. Making jokes in a "serious" movie is always a tough stuff (when the T101 puts on those 70's-funky sunglasses) - that's why I hate the character of JarJarbigns in SW.
btw why does the T101 need the glasses?
unfortunate the repeating of several action sequences from the previous T-movies.
good film, enjoyable - until the last scene when this film really turns into a GREAT movie. the climax is just shocking. I feel like someone just played a trick on my mind. Both the previous T-movies and the 95% of T3 is about "no fate - you can avoid the nuclear holocaust..." and at the end you see.....
The Rules of Attraction (2002)
I saw this movie like "let's pick a film and see something". Was a great choice. This film is a huge great audio-visual "mindflash". If you feel empty or exhausted after watching it then it had the effect. Great music and pictures. How comes to hear a "Deutsch Gesang" in an American movie??
