Marvel’s Avengers Developer Says Dlc Characters Won’t Be Reskins

One of the first solid details we learned about Marvel’s Avengers back in June was that it would contain microtransactions.

In the absence of any gameplay to fawn over, however, audiences on the show floor at E3 and around the world immediately latched onto the revelation and voiced their concerns over how publisher Square Enix would monetize the lucrative license. We’ve since learned, of course, that the superhero adventure’s optional content will be purely cosmetic in nature, and that all meaningful content – new characters, areas, etc – will arrive free of charge.

In an age of hyper-awareness when it comes to loot boxes and other questionable practices, Marvel’s Avengers‘ approach is a refreshing change of pace. The jury’s still out, of course, on whether the price of such luxuries will be of an acceptable level, but at the very least, players won’t have to spend

‘Y: The Last Man’ Series at FX Hires Eliza Clark as New Showrunner
The FX series based on “Y: The Last Man” has found its new showrunner.

Eliza Clark has been named showrunner, writer, and executive producer on the upcoming series — which is titled simply “Y” — based on the graphic novels by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra. She takes over from original showrunners Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal, who exited the project in April.

“A decade ago I devoured the complete ‘Y: The Last Man’ series cover to cover, imagining how it might take shape on screen,” Clark said. “It introduced me to the amazing work of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra and the complex, fascinating world of ‘Y.’ I’m thrilled to tell this story and to be working with this immensely talented cast.”

Clark’s past TV credits include “Animal Kingdom,” “The Killing,” “Extant,” and “Rubicon.” She is also a playwright whose work has been produced in New York,

eBuying Comics: Week 9

  • Nerdly
With the New Year fast approaching I thought I would pay a little homage to Wizard Magazine and look at what comics could be hot in 2019. This just for fun as I don’t have enough experience in studying the markets, but maybe at some point during next year I will check in with my predictions. Most of the predictions are based off of comics related to movie or TV releases despite the fact I have read/heard numerous articles where comic shop owners say there is no direct correlation between the release of a blockbuster comic book movie and an increase in sales. Obviously should Captain America or Iron Man die in Avengers: Endgame I’m not going to say I expect Captain America #1 or Tales Of Suspense #39 to increase in value. I want this list to represent comics the average comic fan can afford.

Lets kick things off talking about Aquaman.

Unexpected Hopefuls Enliven This Year’s Oscar Race for Director Gold

  • Variety
Unexpected Hopefuls Enliven This Year’s Oscar Race for Director Gold
The Oscar buzz surrounding “Green Book” has been a revelation for Peter Farrelly, directing solo without brother Bobby this time around.

“I have a very thick skin, but I didn’t realize we were so looked-down-on,” Farrelly says with a laugh. “I thought we were highly regarded.”

Critics have marveled that the director, who created a crass-comedy oeuvre with Bobby, was at the helm of this awards-track film. He has a theory about the warm reaction to “Green Book,” audience award winner at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival: “It’s because this movie is not just a bunch of laughs,” Farrelly says. “It’s got heart, a feeling that gets to people.”

If an Oscar-tipped film such as “Green Book” seems like it’s a big step outside Farrelly’s comfort zone, think again. Farrelly’s work has often examined the clash of extreme cultural differences, whether Siamese twins who

Arrow season 7 will “push the limits” of network television in terms of grittiness

It’s already got a much darker tone than its fellow Arrowverse shows on The CW, but it seems that the upcoming seventh season of Arrow will see the creative team pushing the boundaries of network television Standards and Practices as it ups the grittiness to a new level.

“[Showrunner Beth Schwartz] and I had a phone call with Bnsp, which is our censors… a very lengthy phone call about a particular scene that we never had before,” director and stunt coordinator James Bamford told Newsarama. “So we are really trying to push the limits on the show in the gritty factor. We are trying to go as far as you can go within the confines of our network and what is expected of us and what we can and can’t do. We are not on Netflix so we will never be able to X, Y, and Z, but we

‘Y: The Last Man’ Lines up Cast; Sets Barry Keoghan as Yorick Brown

We now have a cast for the long-awaited adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra’s Y: The Last Man. For those unfamiliar with the comic, it follows Yorick Brown and his monkey Ampersand, the last two remaining males after a plague wipes out every animal with a Y chromosome. It’s a brilliant series, and it’s definitely one that would work much better as a TV series than a movie as Yorick, along with Culper Ring agent 355 and scientist Dr. Mann try to find a way to save the rest of humanity. We now have …
