Patsy and her bi-racial daughter Lynn are abandoned in Texas and left to fend for themselves. When the odds are stacked too high, they lose everything. Patsy is determined to make a better life for her young daughter. She finds work at a strip club as a waitress. A pretty shady establishment to some, but to them, it is everything. The dancers and the owner, Art, are now like family. But the club is shut down indefinitely. The cycle repeats itself, and once again they are alone. Patsy gets another job at Joe's diner, across from the court building. Patsy meets Judge Joseph Daniels. He's a handsome, eligible bachelor who's family owns practically all of Texas. Every single, established woman wants to marry him, but he has his eyes on Patsy. Little do they know, he has dark secrets. He and Patsy are eventually married. When outsiders threaten to take what they have, protecting it is now a matter of survival. But is it worth protecting?
