Stan has a fish stall in Leicester market. His life is in crisis, his business and his marriage are failing, even the lads who work for him take the piss. There is barely enough money to pay the rent, wages and stock costs. When he finds the bank shut and can't pay in the day's takings he is confronted by his father's ghost who appears in the window of the off-licence. The temptation is too much and he breaks the promise he made 20 years before. A broken and now drunken man, Stan returns to the empty market and we see him begin to eat his cash - after all - money - you can't take it with you. Written by Josephine Dunn

Did You Know?

Gary Lineker appears as Himself (customer). By securing Lineker as a "unique product placement" from Walkers Crisps, producer Josephine Dunn raised match funding from Arts Council of England sufficient to pay the rest of the cast Equity rates and get publicity across all local and national UK newspapers, local and national radio stations, local BBC TV and trade press. The News of the World newspaper even paid Large Scale Productions Ltd. for the publicity article featuring Gary Lineker holding a fish. ACE held this as evidence that they did not just fund elitist arts but art for the people. See more »
