Storyline

Lawyer Maya Cobbina returns to London from Louisiana where she has been trying to halt the execution of falsely accused murderer Rudy Jones. Her head of chambers Jimmy tells her that she could be in line for the job of Director of Public Prosecutions, a role which would also allow her to investigate the death of her friend and anti-racist campaigner Michael Antwi. Maya's good news is shared with her husband of twenty years Nick , an attentive son to his own father dying in a hospice, and their children. However Nick is an ex-policeman and his wife's news prompts his former superior Paul Brightwell to persuade him to spy on Maya's political activities. Written by don @ minifie-1

Goofs

When Maya stops her car in the middle of the road to retrieve her fallen cell phone, she is well over the center line and occupying more than a third of the opposite lane, leaving little room for even a car to get by. However, when the oncoming semi approaches and the scene implies impending doom, her vehicle is merely inches over the line and the truck passes easily.. See more »

Undercover 1

A British lawyer based in the USA, Maya Cobbina (Sophie Okonedo) is meeting a death row inmate Rudy Jones (Dennis Haysbert) for the final time as he is on his way to the execution chamber.

Her children including autistic son and husband Nick Johnson (Adrian Lester) watch her on television in England giving an impassioned speech outside the prison. The execution is botched and Maya rushes back to prison.

After an interesting opening things settle down as Maya returns to Britain. We get some flashbacks at to how she met Nick in 1996 at an anti racism rally.

We then get to the gist of the series. Nick goes to a hospice to visit his dying father, he takes off his wedding ring. His father has no idea that his son is married with children. He is in deep cover because the series is inspired by real life news events.

Nick is living a lie and for all we know has no feelings for Maya or his children. It could all be part of the job.

A fair first episode after a dramatic opening. Good performances from Lester and Okonedo.
