More of the same

The second episode of "Containment" keeps things more or less the same way. There is not much in character development, action or tension. It just kind of stretches the themes talked about in the pilot: the wall, the fear, the people in tension... For now it is OK, but the show needs a little bit more of focus.

The sick people keep being sick, people are getting tired and nervous, Lex is becoming the leader of the police, Jake is the reluctant hero and a probably sick girl is unaccounted for. Will they find her in time?

The plot development is just OK. There could be more tension, or more sensation of fear, but it is not a bad episode. The action is OK, the direction bland but secure, and the acting is good enough. The characters are clear, but how their relationships are going to develop seem too obvious. There is a lack of mystery or of characters that go further from stereotypes.

The idea is there, and the possibilities too. And it is still too early to dismiss the series. But without character development, the show may not have much future.
