Nagarjuna announces his next with director Solomon

Title of Mahesh Babu’s 26th film announced

Karthi's 'Chinna Babu' gets a slow start in Telugu states

The film’s dubbed version in Telugu was released along with Kadai Kutty Singam considering the huge fan following its lead star Karthi has in Andhra and Telangana states. However, reports from the trade circles are that the film has had a slow start due to insufficient promos. The collections on the first day are average but it is expected to pick up over the weekend. The film has collected around Rs 1 crore share in both the Telugu speaking states – Andhra and Telangana. A comedy drama, the film has been directed by the award winning director Pandiraj and bankrolled by Karthi’s brother and actor Suriya under his banner 2D Entertainments. Karthi plays the titular role in Chinna Babu with Sayyesha as his love interest. The star cast also includes Sathyaraj, Sayyeshaa, Arthana Binu, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Soori, Bhanupriya, Viji Chandrasekhar, Saroja, Saravanan and Ilavarasu. D Imman had composed music for this venture with Velraj wielding the camera and Ruben editing it. Though a few of Karthi’s films have been dubbed in Telugu earlier, he made his debut in Tollywood with Oopiri in 2016 which went on to become a huge hit. Directed by Vamsi Paidapally, the film was based on Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano's French comedy-drama The Intouchables. On Monday, the yet-untitled film went on the floors in Dehradun where the shooting will take place for the next two weeks. Mahesh sports a new look for the film. Earlier this month, his pictures sporting a stubble and moustache went viral on social media. It’s worth mentioning that Mahesh was seen with a fake moustache for a few seconds in a song in Bharat Ane Nenu. After shooting briefly in India, the Mahesh 25 team will leave for the Us, where a predominant portion of the film will be shot. While the rest of the cast and crew are yet to be finalised, Pooja Hegde has already been signed as the leading lady. The film marks the foray of well-known lensman Ku Mohanan, known for his work in Bollywood films such as Don and Raees, into the Telugu film industry. Recently, rumours emerged that Mahesh 25 was based on some international series. When a fan pointed this out and asked Vamsi Paidipally to clarify, the latter wrote on Twitter that the news was baseless as his film was not based on any series. Earlier, speculations were rife that she was the frontrunner to play the female lead in director Prabhu Solomon’s Kumki 2. The Bollywood movie 2 States, which was directed by Abhishek Varman, was based on a novel of the same name by Chetan Bhagat. The romantic drama released to positive reviews in 2014 and made good collections at the box office. Sources say that the lead stars have signed on the dotted line and the filmmakers are in the process of roping in the supporting cast and the rest of the crew. Even as the latest Telugu blockbuster Oopiri with Nagarjuna in the lead creates waves across Andhra Pradesh and beyond, news comes that Bollywood's biggest producer-acquisitioner Karan Johar has purchased the rights for the Hindi remake.
