CAA Signs ‘Saturday Night Live’s Heidi Gardner

Exclusive: CAA has signed actress, comedian and Saturday Night Live cast member Heidi Gardner.

Gardner joined SNL in 2017 for the comedy sketch institution’s 43rd season. She also serves as the voice of the anthropomorphic cat “Cooch” on the Crackle series SuperMansion. She also lent her voice to other animated series including Bratz and Mike Tyson Mysteries.

She can currently be seen in the Netflix feature Otherhood directed by Cindy Chupack and starring Angela Bassett,

Patricia Arquette and Felicity Huffman. She can also be seen in the Warner Bros. comedy Life of the Party which starred Melissa McCarthy.

She was previously a member of the Sunday Company and Main Company at The Groundlings in Los Angeles.

Gardner will continue to be managed by Odenkirk Provissiero and Ziffren Brittenham.

Bryan Cranston’s Moonshot Entertainment Inks Deal With Warner Bros. TV Group
Bryan Cranston and his Moonshot Entertainment production company are leaving Sony Pictures TV for a multi-year overall deal at Warner Bros. Television Group.

Cranston launched Moonshot Entertainment in 2013 with a deal at Sony TV, the studio behind his Emmy-winning series Breaking Bad. James Degus soon joined him as president and will move with Cranston to Wbtvg. During the company’s run at Sony TV, it produced series Sneaky Pete for Amazon, which Cranston co-created and had a recurring role on; the stop-motion animated SuperMansion for Sony’s Crackle; The Dangerous Book For Boys for Amazon; and Electric Dreams for Channel 4 in the UK and Amazon.

Bryan Cranston Signs Multi-Year Overall Deal With Warner Bros TV Group
Bryan Cranston and his Moonshot Entertainment production company have signed an exclusive multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. TV Group.

Cranston and producing partner James Degus will develop original series for linear TV, on-demand and streaming platforms. Moonshot’s series will be produced in association with either Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Scripted Television, Warner Bros. Animation or Blue Ribbon Content, the Television Group’s digital division, depending on the platform.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick join Facebook animated series Human Discoveries

Social network giant Facebook has tapped Zac Efron (The Greatest Showman) and Anna Kendrick (Trolls) to lend their voices to the upcoming animated series Human Discoveries.

Created by Chris Bruno and David Howard Lee, Human Discoveries takes place at the dawn of human civilisation and follows a group of friends who are “the first to discover necessities like fire and the wheel, but together they also stumble onto humanity’s best and worst innovations, including art, alcohol, fashion, racism, small talk and — much to their confusion — monogamy.”

Seth Green and several other “Robot Chicken” writers and producers have sold an adult animated comedy pilot to Hulu, Variety has learned exclusively.

The series is titled “Crossing Swords.” When Patrick, a goodhearted young peasant with dreams of earning his knighthood and dispensing justice to evildoers, lands a coveted squire position at the royal castle, his dream job quickly turns into a nightmare. In this kingdom, corruption starts at the top, and staying true to his lofty goals will be a thornier proposition than Patrick anticipated. It’s all the sex, violence and full-frontal nudity you’d expect from a “premium fantasy soap starring pre-school toys.”

John Havartine and Tom Root will write and executive produce. Havartine joined “Robot Chicken” as an executive producer in 2012 during the show’s sixth season, while Root is the show’s head writer and executive producer. Green will also executive produce along with Matt Senreich and Eric Towner.

Sony Crackle to Develop Organ Harvest Drama From ‘Art of More’ Duo (Exclusive)

Sony Crackle is developing a drama series that hails from Evan Hart and Kyle Stephen, Variety has learned exclusively.

Titled “The Transplant,” the series would follow an American surgeon who, after falsifying medical records to get his daughter an organ transplant, finds himself in Hong Kong. There he enters the dark and prosperous organ harvest trade, or the red market, operating under a very different set of procedures.

Hart and Stephen previously wrote for the Sony Crackle drama “The Art of More,” which explored the dark underbelly of New York auction houses. The pair co-wrote the episode “Ride Along” in the show’s first season.

Hart has primarily worked as an actor during his career. He has appeared in projects like the mini-series “The Bronx Is Burning” and the Showtime series “House of Lies.” He also wrote, directed, and produced the 2010 short film “Nice Tie, Italiano!” which starred Simon Kassianides,

This episode features special guest Mikey Day (Saturday Night Live) as Max Penalizer, an anti-hero meting out justice with his Ball Peen Gavel of justice.
