When the police arrest a gang of opium smugglers on the banks of the Thames, Inspector John Marlott makes a shocking discovery in the form of the body of a dead child washed up on the shore. He is ordered by Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel to lead the investigation, however details must remain confidential.
Did You Know?
In John Marlott's trunk of possessions is an officers jacket. It is pretty certain that this is the same Rifleman's jacket that Sharpe wore in the 'Sharpe' TV series. Also, the name Marlott is very close to Maillot whose first name was Jean. This is the name of a French officer in Sharpe's Revenge. See more
