Cube responded by saying they sent him the script and he was interested until he read the script and was displeased with new direction they were taking the film and was disgusted by the dialogue and additional characters. He stated that this is not the Barbershop he knows and it tarnishes the image and meaning of the original two films, Common was casted and they scrapped off Ealy's character and did some re-writes.

In the scene where Raja is filming a promotional video for the Barbershop there is an unknown twerking woman in the background. This is Nicki Minaj, despite what she and her then boyfriend, Meek Mill, said on twitter. Also the color of her pants were digitally changed from white to blue so the audience would not know it was Ms Minaj.

During the post-credits scene, Eddie does Barack Obama's hair and leaves a patch in his head; that is is similar to what Calvin's cousin Kenard (Kenan Thompson) does to Alderman Brown (Robert Wisdom) in Barbershop 2: Back in Business (2004) and what Jimmy does to the little boy in Barbershop (2002).
