The irony is that even die-hard Marvel fans may not be familiar with the legend of Agent Carter.
Actually this is not irony, it is more kismet. Or perhaps more Harvard MBA thinking. In case you have been living on another planet, after the mess Disney made with John Carter (no relation) it purchased Marvel and in my opinion, the entertainment biz may never be the same in your lifetime.
The mission of the new division is not only to max revenue from the existing franchises but also to create new ones. Eventually, when they start spinning off series based on the cleaning staff in Howard Stark's office, people may (at that future stage) think they have perhaps gone too far.
For now, however, they are ticking along just fine.
Hayley Atwell is stunning. Think a reboot of Alias (which put JJ Abrams into orbit, and made Garner a megastar) with better writing, better supporting cast, a built-in audience and retro clothes.
