The first poster for the upcoming paranormal horror slasher The 6th Friend has released, and it's tight!

The 6th Friend is from director Letia Clouston and was written by Letia Clouston and Jamie Bernadette. Bernadette also produced and stars in the film along with producer and actress Chantelle Albers.

Synopsis

Matt Nable leads cast of Nine-Matchbox crime series Hyde and Seek

Matt Nable (Fell, Hacksaw Ridge, Arrow), Deborra-lee Furness (Correlli, Jindabyne), Mandy McElhinney (House of Hancock, Love Child), Emma Hamilton (The Tudors, Mary: The Making of a Princess) and Zoe Ventoura (Packed to the Rafters) are set to star in Hyde and Seek, a new series from Nine.

The series revolves around Detective Gary Hyde (Nable), whose best friend is killed in a seemingly random attack.

Together with his new partner Claire McKenzie (Hamilton), Hyde uncovers a criminal conspiracy that will threaten his life and endanger his young family.

Also joining the cast are Tai Hara (Home and Away), Claire Lovering (San Andreas), Andrew McFarlane (Devil.s Playground, Love Child), Aaron Fa.aoso (East West 101) and Stephanie Panozzo.

Curious bulks up slate

Production, post and distribution company Curious has announced a ramped up production slate across both Australian and Nz projects, including Pat Nalin.s highly anticipated Beyond the Known World due for completion in mid-2015.

Set in The Himalayas, the Nz-India co-production follows an estranged couple who journey to India in order to search for their missing daughter. The cast includes David Wenham (Lord of the Rings, 300, Top of the Lake), Sia Trokenheim (Step Dave, Everything We Loved), and Emmanuelle Beart (8 Femmes) and is currently in post-production at Curious Auckland.

Matthew Horrocks and Kristian Eek will produce while Matt Noonan and Sarah Noonan are the EPs. Arclight Films is handling international sales. Curious will distribute in Australia and Nz.

Director Taika Watiti of Boy and What We Do in The Shadows has a new comic adventure up his sleeve, with Hunt for the Wilderpeople commencing production on May 18, 2015 in New Zealand.

Oz-nz TV co-pro rounds out cast

Melina Vidler, Benson Jack Anthony, Rick Donald and Bridie Carter have joined Erik Thomson in 800 Words, a drama commissioned by the Seven Network and Tvnz.

The 8-part series stars Thomson as George Turner, who quits his job as an 800 word columnist for a Sydney newspaper after his wife dies and, on impulse, buys a house in a remote New Zealand seaside town.

Vidler (The Arrangement, Mako: Island of Secrets) and Anthony (Underbelly Razor, Blood Brothers, Legend of the Seeker) play his teenage children Shay and Arlo Turner.

The family.s hopes of making a fresh start don.t go to plan in their new environment as the locals are both secretive and inquisitive.

Donald (Friends with Better Lives, The Doctor Blake Mysteries) is cast as George.s new best mate Woody, a fellow Aussie and keen surfer, with Carter (McLeod.s Daughters) as Jan, editor of the newspaper George wrote for.

Script prize for The Dark Horse

James Napier Robertson.s screenplay of The Dark Horse was named best feature script at the 5th annual New Zealand Writers Guild Awards (Swanz).

Directed by Napier Robertson and produced by Tom Hern, The Dark Horse is based on the true story of New Zealand speed-chess champion Genesis Potini, played by Cliff Curtis (Once Were Warriors, Whale Rider). James Rolleston (Boy) co-stars as Genesis. nephew Mana.

Despite a bipolar disorder, Potini turned a group of at-risk youth into budding chess champs. In its Toronto review The Hollywood Reporter praised the film as "an emotionally potent story of redemption anchored by a heart-piercing lead performance from Cliff Curtis.".

Transmission Films will open the film in Australia on November 20.
