Storyline

The body of teenager Katie Bowman is found dumped in an open grave. DI Carter suspects Ryan Kelvin, boyfriend of Lizzie Kennedy, whose daughter Hannah was Katie's best friend. He argued with the deceased girl the day she died and has no alibi. Ryan is also Jack's half-brother, whom he has not seen since he was forced to testify against him in a court case some years earlier. To avoid a clash of interests Thomas brings in pathologist Helen Ferguson, suspending Jack. Jack however does his own sleuthing. showing Carter that Katie had been to a club where she met Christy Nash, a married doctor with whom she had sex. Nash's wife gives him a false alibi to protect their daughter but declares her intention to divorce him. Ryan is bailed and moves in with Jack, who now doubts his brother's innocence whilst Hannah is killed after confronting Dr Nash. Written by don @ minifie-1

A personal case for Jack.
18 October 2019 | by Sleepin_DragonSee all my reviews

It's a grim start, as a teenage girl's body is found in an open brave. It's a very bleak, dramatic start. The presence of Jack's brother makes this a very interesting, personal story. The pair would share some very good scenes.

Ashley Walters is fantastic as DI Carter, a very strong performance from him, a shame be never reappeared, although Top Boy would follow.

Series seventeen has been very strong, Commodity perhaps being my favourite of this run, Fraternity however is a solid conclusion.

Writer Graham Mitchell did a very good job, his first for Silent Witness, he's since written some great episodes, in the next series he'd write one of the best, Falling Angels.

Very good. 8/10
