Here's Why Tamar Braxton and The Real Ladies Are Still Feuding
The ladies in daytime are keeping it real! It's been more than three years since news broke that Tamar Braxton would not be reprising her role as a co-host on The Real. In the months that followed, reports surfaced claiming her sudden departure may have been caused by conflict with her fellow co-hosts at the time. But over the summer, things appeared to be healed when Tamar issued a public apology on social media. "When all u know and felt is hurt. You hurt. Self-inflicted and to others are included. From my sisters, the ladies of The Real, Iyanla Vanzant, old and new friends and whomever else I've Ever hurt, from being hurt. Please forgive me," she shared in a now-deleted Instagram. "I...

TV Ratings: ‘Holey Moley’ Wins Thursday Night for ABC
Stephen Curry may have lost this year’s NBA Finals, but the Golden State Warriors star did find a consolation victory in last night’s ratings.

“Holey Moley,” the mini golf competition series featuring and executive produced by Curry, premiered to a solid 1.0 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, coming out on top of an otherwise quiet Thursday night.

The new ABC series beat out “Masterchef” (0.7) on Fox and re-runs of “The Wall” (0.5) and “Big Bang Theory” (0.7) on NBC and CBS in the 8 p.m. timeslot. However, “Holey Moley” did narrowly lose out to the “Big Bang Theory” in terms of total viewership, with the former bringing in 4.82 million viewers to the latter’s 4.84.

ABC came second to Fox in the overall ratings for the night, as the Curry-centric evening fell off a little when “Family Food Fight,” starring Ayesha Curry, premiered to a 0.6 rating and only 2.9 million total viewers at 9 p.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month: 9 Actors in Hollywood on the Books and Films That Inspired Them

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month: 9 Actors in Hollywood on the Books and Films That Inspired Them
“There’s a quote that, ‘You cannot be what you cannot see,’ and we think there’s a lot of truth in that,” says Peter Ash Lee, the New York-based editor behind the Asian-American arts and culture magazine Burdock. “Growing up, we didn’t see many reflections of ourselves in media, and when we did, they were often portrayals lacking any depth.”

The feelings of being “unseen” and a desire for multi-dimensional Asian-American experiences were what inspired Lee and his sister, Hannah, to create Burdock, which launched in April at New York’s Apex for Youth Gala.

“We’ve often been painted with a monolithic brush, but the Asian community contains so many multitudes and no two stories are identical — there are thousands of unique experiences and stories to tell,” Lee says.

From ‘The View’ to ‘Red Table Talk,’ the Daytime Emmys Celebrate Two Kinds of Talk Shows

  • Variety
In 2008, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) divided the Daytime Emmy Award for talk show into two categories — entertainment and informative. The idea was to ensure that series competed against those that were similar in tone and subject matter. Yet, more than a decade later, there is some crossover. “The View,” for example, submits in the entertainment subcategory, despite featuring daily Hot Topics segments that focus on politics and news and undoubtedly end up educating some of its viewers. And “Rachael Ray,” which won in entertainment in 2008 and 2009, is now on the informative ballot.

“By design, our show crosses over through both categories,” says Janet Annino, senior executive producer at “Rachael Ray.” “On a given day, we’ll have a celebrity sitting at the table, Tony Bennett singing, or we’ll devote an entire hour to tips and tricks. If asked to define our show, people here may

Carol Burnett could beat ‘Ellen’ and ‘The Talk’ at the Daytime Emmys with ‘A Little Help’ from Netflix

Carol Burnett could beat ‘Ellen’ and ‘The Talk’ at the Daytime Emmys with ‘A Little Help’ from Netflix
There have only been two Daytime Emmy winners for Best Entertainment Talk Show in the last six years: “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Talk”. But this year they could both be ambushed by a newcomer, some plucky upstart by the name of Carol Burnett. She’s nominated for her Netflix series “A Little Help,” and if she wins it would be the first Daytime Emmy in the legendary entertainer’s career.

But maybe a better question would be where she’d even put the award if she got it. Over the course of her career she has won six Primetime Emmys, five Golden Globes (plus a new honorary award named for her), two Peabody Awards, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, a Grammy and the Life Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild, to name a few.
