Destiny (2014 Video Game)
[an onslaught of aliens appears]
Human Female Player: Now that's a party!
Guardian: Exo Male: Music?
Guardian: Exo Male: Something classical...
[Ghost plays Led Zeppelin]
Human Male Player: [Character finds alien footprints on the moon on top of Neil Armstrong's]
Human Male Player: There's nothing I hate more than an alien with no respect for history...
The Speaker: The stories tell of a golden age long ago, when our civilization spanned the system. It was a bright and hopeful time. But it didn't last. Something hit us. Knocked us down and tried to stamp us out. No one knows exactly what, but we do know this: very few of us survived, and those that did owe their lives to the The Traveler. Legends say The Traveler sacrificed itself to save us. The mysterious sphere still hangs where it made its last stand, low above the Earth, keeping silent watch. The years that followed the collapse of the golden age were hard, but slowly we joined together to build a city beneath The Traveler. And now we've begun to venture back into the wild, only to find that we're not alone. Strange and deadly creatures have occupied our old worlds. And they're pressing hard against The City, probing for a weakness, trying to stamp us out for good. Your story begins at this moment of great adventure and peril. You are a Guardian of The City; a soldier able to wield some of The Traveler's incredible power. If you can find a way to save The City - to reclaim all that we have lost - you will become legend. If you fail, the last light of civilization will go out!
Ghost: Can't we just stay here with the murderous robots?
Human Male Player: No, *little light.*
Ghost: *Don't* do that.
Human Male Player: Humans haven't been on the moon for hundreds of years.
Human Male Player: [looks around] Nice place to visit, but i wouldn't want to live here.
Ghost: [Upon seeing the Heart of the Black Garden, which looks like a thumping blob of... the Darkness?] So... Think you can kill a god?
Human Female Player: Don't think I have a choice.
The Speaker: [random soliloquy] If only the Nine would help...
Xûr: [random soliloquy] It was the Nine who gave us purpose. It was the Nine who keep us all. For organic life to exist it requires constant adaptation. Bodies come and go, but the cells remember, and if they forget, the Nine remember it for us.
Xûr: [to a listening Guardian] I cannot tell you what the Nine are. They are very large. I cannot explain. The fault is mine, not yours.
Xûr: [random rambling] I am merely a trash collector for the Nine.
Xûr: [random rambling] I understood my mission when the Nine put it in me, but now I cannot articulate it.
Master Rahool, Cryptarch: [random rambling, frustrated] This idiotic cypher is malfunctioning!
Master Rahool, Cryptarch: [random rambling] Can't stop now... more coffee.
Lakshmi-2, Future War Cult Merchant: [to a listening Guardian] This war has no end, Guardian.
Oryx: [from 'The Taken King - Regicide'] What you call the Darkness is the end of your evolution!
