The UK release was censored Upon a formal classification the film received a '15' uncut for moments of strong bloody violence and threat. The distributors unsatisfied with this rating resubmitted the film in an edited version (with 52 seconds of footage removed following BBFC advice). The board still found these cuts inadequate and requested that a further 5 minutes be removed. The distributor agreed to these terms and the edited version of the film was classified '12A' for moderate violence and threat.
The cuts made in the UK removed the following:
sight of bloodshed during gun battles, and more detailed blood spurts as characters are shot
crunchier audio as bones are broken
sight of a pistol being rammed into a character's mouth
sight of a cleaver being rammed into a character's head just off-camera
a scene of strong threat in which a family are forced to drink poison by villains who threaten to kill them with knives.
as well as altering another scene of threat in which a child is threatened with a hot iron; which was replaced with a gun in the censored version; the filmmakers also removed a single clear use of strong language 'f**k' although the BBFC posed no objection to this. See more »
Stylish over the top revenge romp. Ajith show from the first frame to the last. He has terrific screen presence.
The story is set in Tamil cinema's current favourite milieu, Mumbai. AK alias Ashok (Ajith) a former bomb disposal specialist and a Dirty Harry type who shoots-the-scums of earth is on a revenge romp. Along with his lady love Maya (Nayanthara), he forcibly ropes in a computer hacker Arjun (Arya) and his lover Anita (Taapsee) into his nefarious plans
Perfect star cast & technically chic. The revenge motive is well established. Arya & Ajith bickering and bonding, scenes Arya being trapped by Ajith & Nayan in the 1st half a scream.
Minus Points – The Yuvan- Vishnu combo fails for the first time, not even one hummable song
Loved Mahesh Manjrekar & his villainy, climax with Thala & Kishore good.Overall it is a perfect shoot-revenge
Arrambam is a perfect entertainment
