In a parallel society, humanoid robots, hubots, are used for household chores or sexual favors. A band of emancipated hubots are hiding in the countryside, led by the hubot Niska. With them is also the human Leo, searching for the hubot Mimi that he has fallen in love with. Mimi has in fact been kidnapped and sold to the Engman family, renamed to Anita. Next to the Engmans live Roger Pålsson who bears a grudge to hubots since his wife Therese moved out, preferring the company of her exercise hubot instead. In the forest, two humans at an isolated farmstead are murdered by Niska. Written by Mattias Thuresson

An interesting premise.
7 April 2013 | by WakenPayneSee all my reviews

I have been wanting to see some foreign language television for a little bit of a while now. But in Australia there is only British, American, Canadian (well... popular Canadian) and Australian (but that's rare) television. I found this a couple of days ago. I looked on the back, it not only was a foreign language television series but one I thought I might enjoy based on the premise. I watched the pilot today and here's what I thought.

Basically the acting is marvelous. The hubots are so convincing in their parts it's scary. They look, act and feel like humanoid robots. The acting from the human characters is also well done but not in comparison with the hubots.

And the plot. Humanoid robots (or Hubots) are in almost every home on the planet. Doing household jobs and anything that their owner (or owners) want (and yes I do mean anything). There is a protest group called "Real Humans" that are against this. And also there is another group of Hubots that have broken their programming and move from place to place finding electricity to survive.

This does make way for interesting television. Hopefully when I watch the other nine episodes that I care for the characters a little bit more, but despite that I did find the characters interesting. It might be worth a look in my opinion but I haven't really seen enough of the show.
