It is the New Year's Eve in 1949, although on account of Bjarne and Vissing's articles, a police officer from the Crisis Department commits suicide, unable to cope with his guilt. As a result, H.C. Vissing, after twenty years in the Social-Democraten, quits his job following Bjarne's firing for stealing classified Police documents, prematurely closing the Spider's case forever. In the meantime, an unsuccessful attempt against Hjalmar's life triggers a relentless hunt for traitors and forces him to reevaluate his trust in his men and Ole in particular, who as a former Nazi is not trustworthy and now belongs completely to his boss. Under those circumstances, Chief Gordan wants to know more about the case, however, Bjarne who falls deeper in love with Lisbeth decides to make a devastating disclosure about her father without considering the repercussions.
