Alpha is targeting Echo's previous romantic engagements
2 February 2019 | by TweekumsSee all my reviews

As this episode opens we see one of Echo's former romantic engagements talking about his time with her; it then becomes apparent that he is talking to Alpha... who then kills him. Back in the Dollhouse Adelle won't let Echo undergo a treatment; instead she insists on observing her despite her head aches. This goes on until a regular books her. She finds him dead... and it was clear he was dead when the engagement was booked. Alpha is quickly suspected and the Dollhouse tries to contact other men who hired Echo. One of them, Joel Mynor who appeared in season one, is taken back to the Dollhouse for his own safety... but will that be enough?

This was a really solid episode, largely thanks to the return of Alpha. He is a believably dangerous character; Alan Tudyk does a really impressive job in the role. His appearance isn't the only good thing though; the internal politics in the Dollhouse is intriguing as loyalties aren't that obvious when it comes to who will help Ballard in his mission to bring down the house. There are some genuinely surprising moments and plenty of exciting, action packed moments. There is also a greater emotional punch than in most episodes for reasons I won't spoil here. Overall another impressive episode.
