1970s, six-and-a-half-year-old Sébastien is a sensitive, highly imaginative child. Despite the affection he feels for his father, a dreamy inventor, he notices his mother's loneliness and how there is a lack of love in her life. When they move the house, it won't be long before he sees in Philippe, his new neighbor, an ideal Prince Charming for his mother.
A romantic story set in 1972 in a small, apparently innocent country in France. Everything is observed in the eyes of Sébastien, a 6-year-old boy who considers his mother Marie the most beautiful woman in the world. He imagines her as the Queen of England, who smiles and greets the crowd from Buckingham Palace's balcony. His father, an unsuccessful inventor who hides in the basement working on useless inventions, has no space in his imagination. One day, a pair of young attractive neighbors arrives. Immediately Philippe conquers Marie's heart, and their adulterous history, conducted without too much discretion, gives Sébastien a blue Prince to put alongside his mother, the Queen.
