Trivia

Because of her brother's death, Janet Jackson used that in the film, her anger and her emotions when she decided to break the tables with the golf clubs. Her crying was real, because of the grief that was going on. Not only that, she took some time off while making the film because of his death, so she used everything and put it into this film. For a lot of her emotional scenes, Tyler Perry wanted her to think of something sad, and unfortunately at the time she didn't know her brother had died, but afterwards she thought about Michael when she got angry, sad, and emotional, and that sometimes castmates had said she had to walk off the set because it became too much. Goofs

The scene where Angela confronts the gardener in her bedroom with the pistol, she waves the pistol around with the barrel clearly visible and the slide to the rear, which indicates that the chamber and magazine are both empty. Moments later she fires another shot, but has not reloaded the pistol. See more »

Why the Bad Rep?
30 June 2011 | by gabbyj3000See all my reviews

I don't think I have ever laughed harder at a movie I watched out of boredom. I found this gem as I was perusing Netflix instant-watch, and I'm glad I decided to watch it.

Comedy is prevalent within the first couple scenes. Unlike many of the films made today, it was refreshing to watch a movie that could make me laugh while exploring serious subject matter. The film covers all realms of marriage difficulties, many of which are real problems facing today's couples.

As I was new to Perry's films, I looked up some of his other movies on IMDb. To my disdain, almost all of his films received bad reviews. Why? Perry took the "black stereotype" and made a farce out of it. The movie is completely satirical, and should be perceived as such. Also - Tasha Smith made me laugh the entire movie.
