The police are trying to solve a series of attacks on prostitutes. They are being attacked in their homes by an assailant who puts a bag over their head and beats them severely. CCTV footage of men in the area around the time of one of the beatings is John's father. It also appears the beatings started just around the time he was released from prison. DS Luke French, still grieving over the death of his wife, returns to work against everyone's better judgment and takes charge of the case. He and John don't see eye to eye on how to run the case. A shopkeeper and his wife are receiving blackmail notes and someone may be putting adulterated foods on their shelves. They are also bickering constantly, driving everyone around the bend. Miranda returns to the station as a drug counselor and she and acting Inspector Young begin to explore a relationship. Written by garykmcd
