A successful businessman receives sexual harassment by a beautiful and obstinate psychopath
An African-American named Derek ( Idris Elba ) is a busy asset manager , happily married with family and only son . Then he deserves the unwanted attention of an employee and is receiving sexual harassment at the hands of loony stalker , a temporary worker named Lisa ( Ali Larter ) . After a Christmas celebration he returns home to wife named Sharon ( Beyonce Knowles, also producer ), and Lisa becomes progressively angrier as she is desperate to get close to Derek. Lisa is understandably impressed with him and finds herself physically drawn to Derek . You might even say she is boiling bunny mad and she proceeds to turn his family's life into a living hell .
This is an average thriller, and inferior to ¨ Fatal attraction ¨ by Adrian Lyne , the date movie of the late 1980s , that garnered six Academy Award nominations and played Michael Douglas , Anne Archer and Glenn Close whose roles bear remarkable resemblance to Idris Elba , Beyonce Knowles and Ali Larter . The plot is too obvious, but the dialogue rings true and the passable performances hold the story together . Fine Idris Elba as hard working man , Beyonce deserves kudos for side-stepping cliché as the strong but frightened wife , and Ali Larter is good as sexy woman who results to be psychotic as she chews up the scenery . It features an ending which seems more appropriate to terror film . Still, its extremely luxurious scenarios certainly holds your attention . Intriguing musical score by James Dooley and glamorous cinematography by Ken Seng . The motion picture is regularly directed by British filmmaker Steve Shill . He's an expert director of TV episodes , as he realized ¨ Dexter , Trauma , Law and order , The Tudor , Rome, The Soprano , West wing , Big Love ¨ and many others , ¨Obsessed ¨ is his only film . Rating : Average but entertaining .
