Bert's Last Stand
13 December 2019 | by tamsin-parker-262-538925See all my reviews

Cyril wants to gather all his gold together so he can make a deal with Mr. Knox (Len Carlson), shut down the Evergreen Standard and build paper and ink factories. The pigs hatch a plan to make more gold by stealing one of Cyril's gold bars, and take it to the top of a mountain to multiply it with electricity. However, the plan backfired, and Bert, who thought he had created gold by magic, makes off with the bar. Not the series' best episode, but the characters do have fun poses and expressions. Len Carlson hams it up spectacularly as Bert and Nick Nichols turns in a good performance as Pig #1. The stakes are high in the episode, but the only one who brings Cyril down in the end is Cyril himself. Bert does get a chance to shine, though, which is great because although he's a big ball of dorky sunshine in a huge red sweater, he narrowly avoids becoming annoying. He proves that he's very kind and patient but he has his limits.
