Danny Trejo Says He May End Up Directing Machete Kills Again… In Space

Danny Trejo is one of the busiest and most recognizable character actors in the business, having made roughly 250 film and television appearances over the course of his career, including twelve in 2018 alone. Best known for having a face that looks like it was carved out of granite, the actor has quite happily been typecast for decades, and very rarely gets the chance to play the leading man.

One of the few times Trejo got to take center stage though was in the Machete franchise, which originated from a fake trailer made to play in front of the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino double-feature Grindhouse. The concept proved so popular that it spawned two movies, with sequel Machete Kills ending on the tease of a third adventure that would head into sci-fi territory with the fantastic title of Machete Kills Again… in Space.

Six years have passed since then, and the

Trailer: Jason Mewes Makes His Directorial Debut With ‘Madness In The Method’

Here’s one of our most anticipated movies of the summer; Jason Mewes‘ directorial debut Madness In The Method, a movie we’ve been following the progress of for a little while now. Mewes also leads the cast of the upcoming comedy, a film which apparently delivers murder, madness and meta-moviemaking. Cannot wait.

Here’s the official synopsis:

The only way to survive in Hollywood is to toughen up, or embrace insanity! At least that’s the advice Kevin Smith passes on to his best friend Jason Mewes, problem is, Smith was joking about the latter…

No longer content being known only as Jay from Jay and Silent Bob, Jason takes matters into his own hands and hatches a plan to change people’s perception of him in the movie business. Did the plan involve a killing spree, a wide scale police investigation and international press scrutiny? Probably not,

Danny Trejo Is Boots the Monkey in Dora and the Lost City of Gold

Danny Trejo Is Boots the Monkey in Dora and the Lost City of Gold
Have you ever wanted to hear Danny Trejo as Boots telling Benicio Del Toro's Swiper, "Swiper no swiping?" You're in luck if you said yes because Trejo has just revealed that he is providing the voice of Boots the Monkey in Dora and the Lost City of Gold. This seems a bit puzzling, but we should get some clarification as to what we're about to see when the first trailer drops this weekend during the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards.

After the Dora and the Lost City of Gold posters were released this morning, Danny Trejo announced the great news. The Machete actor posted, "The rumors are true, I finally can tell you I am a monkey... Boots!!!" Fans noticed right away that Boots isn't wearing any boots in the posters. However, this may change at some point during the course of the movie, which might also explain how much

Movie Review – Flay (2019)

Flay, 2019.

Directed by Eric Pham.

Starring Elle Lamont, Dalton E. Gray, A. Michael Baldwin, Johnny Walter, Violett Beane, and Jordan LeuVoy.

Following her mother’s death, an estranged daughter struggles to save her brother and others from Flay, an evil Native American spirit that is definitely not the Slender Man.

Where do we begin with Flay? There’s a mountain of flaws, so much that they often hinder the solid moments sprinkled throughout the film. It never feels fun being so negative about a piece, especially when you know the hard work that goes into making a feature film. When it comes to Flay though, there are just too many obvious ways to avoid the mistakes made in the movie that it almost astounds me.

For starters, making a Slender Man movie is something any filmmaker should avoid. Then including elements from other folklore and tropes only adds to the ridiculousness.

‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Review: A Cliche-Ridden Misfire

Alita: Battle Angel was supposed to be the must-see event film of the early year. This spectacle of technology and filmmaking, based off Yukito Kushiro's Gunnm, was going to revolutionize cinema forever. For almost 20 years, James Cameron has been teasing this popular manga adaptation, and the story of getting the film to the screen is, at times, more interesting than the film itself. Alita: Battle Angel is finally in theaters, now directed by Robert Rodriguez, off of a script by James Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis, and the wait was definitely not worth it.

Science Fiction has officially passed James Cameron by. There's no other way to say it. While his Avatar made a gazillion dollars at the box office, it was critically bereft of any creativity, and was a rehash of tired old ideas; it was essentially a lazy exercise in "same, but different" screenwriting. Alita: Battle Angel follows that same pattern.

‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Star Rosa Salazar on Latinx Representation: ‘Ain’t No Wall Going to Keep Us Out’

‘Alita: Battle Angel’ Star Rosa Salazar on Latinx Representation: ‘Ain’t No Wall Going to Keep Us Out’
Alita: Battle Angel” star Rosa Salazar has a message for politicians who want to build walls.

“We’re here to stay, baby,” she says. “Ain’t no wall going to keep us out.”

Salazar realizes starring in “Alita” comes with a responsibility. “Just being a Latinx actress at the helm of something like this in itself is a message,” she told Variety at the movie’s premiere on Tuesday in Westwood, Calif. “You know I carry my name with me wherever I go. I’m Rosa Bianca Salazar, and… this is the next wave of Latino casting.”

In the film, Salazar plays the titular Alita, a butt-kicking cyborg who awakens in the year 2563 only to find herself amidst the complicated futuristic setting of Iron City. There, she must learn to navigate a pumped-up roller derby sporting league while dealing with a host of issues relating to cyborg bounty hunting.

Alita: Battle Angel review – lovestruck tweenies do battle in robot dystopia

Rosa Salazar stars as a cyborg killing machine brought back to life in Robert Rodriguez’s oddly tame postapocalyptic future

Robert Rodriguez has lately been a purveyor of grindhouse-homage laughs with his Machete franchise, and jaded 2D thrills in the Sin City movies. Now he’s in charge of something more conventional and colossal, co-written and co-produced by James Cameron. It’s a coming-of-age melodrama about young love in the postapocalyptic future, centring on a young woman called Alita with “the face of an angel and a body built for battle”, and involving plenty of human-slash-cyborg martial arts.

The entertainment has been scavenged together from the body parts of other movies such as Blade Runner, RoboCop, Rollerball and of course Fritz Lang’s Metropolis, although that last one is now so deeply in the bloodstream of the futurist genre that identifying it as an influence is beside the point.
