When Hank, Peggy, and Bobby all get the flu, Bill comes by to take care of them and does a great job. Bill is disappointed when the Hills recover because he can't help them any more, but Hank recommends that he take up volunteer work. Bill interviews to volunteer at a halfway house for alcoholic men and winds up agreeing to take in four of the men at his own house. Bill finds that having to take care of the additional cooking, cleaning, and shopping, plus the group therapy for the men, is tiring work, but he remains committed to the cause and enlists Hank to help him. Unfortunately, Hank finds that the director of the halfway house is disinclined to relieve Bill's burden.
