Humiliated with sharing his name with a bumbling character on a hit TV show, Homer decides to have his name legally changed to Max Power. The new name opens a lot of doors for Homer and Marge and soon they become friends with some of Springfield's most powerful people.

While discussing TV shows, Homer mentions how producers like animation because they don't have to pay the voice actors, at which point Ned Flanders, sounding noticeably different, walks by and says they can even replace the cast and and the audience won't be able to tell the difference. This is an inside joke referring to a real-life pay dispute that occurred between the main cast and the network in 1998, during which Fox threatened to replace all of the voice actors. See more
When Homer gets his scarf caught in the fan at Moe's and begins swinging around, knocking over items on the bar, the glasses of beer get knocked over before Homer even connects with them. See more
