Did You Know?

The fictional movie that Redd Foxx is promoting is titled "Windows are a Pane in the Glass", a joking reference to Foxx's real life demand that his dressing room have windows. (The studio's refusal led Foxx to leave the series for portions of the third and fourth seasons.) See more »

In the episode as "Doris martin" is entering, you can see she is holding a "Sanford and Son" script binder. See more »

Fred G. Sanford: Redd Foxx is my idol. I love him. I love the way he spells his name with two d's and two x's.
Lamont Sanford: I wonder why he does that.
Fred G. Sanford: I don't know about the two d's, but I saw his nightclub act once, and I know why they got all them x's!

Windows Are a Pane in the Glass
3 December 2016 | by kevinolzakSee all my reviews

"Fred Meets Redd" ponders the question that viewers might not have been asking, the fictional Fred Sanford face to face with the actual Redd Foxx. Redd Foxx will appear at NBC studios to promote his latest picture, "Windows Are a Pane in the Glass," and Fred naturally is one of his biggest fans, eager to enter the Redd Foxx lookalike contest, where the winner gets $100, two tickets to his movie, and a weekend in Las Vegas as his guest. Tirelessly doing inventory so that Marvin (Jack Carter) can take care of his income taxes, Fred is barely awake for the audition but still manages to win. This was the last of ten memorable episodes for Fritzi Burr, a fine straight woman, with brief appearances from veteran funny man Benny Rubin and Debraca Foxx, real life step-daughter of Redd Foxx. As for Redd playing Redd, it's less memorable than "Mork Meets Robin Williams."
