Madame Sara
5 August 2019 | by Prismark10See all my reviews

There was a good mystery here. Unfortunately it was delivered in a flat talkative episode.

John Fraser struggles to bring investigator Dixon Druce to life. He is consulted by an old school friend who has married an alluringly beautiful woman Beatrice. He feels that her life and that of her sister Edith might be in danger. It all depends on the terms of a particular will which leaves the capital to the surviving sibling. There is a half brother in Brazil who has gone missing.

Madame Sara is a friend of the sisters. She is educated, she knows medicine and lots of other things such as making people look beautiful or younger. She immediately charms Dixon Druce but she is more of a complex figure. However when Edith dies of poisoning Dixon worries that her sister might be next. He also needs to find out how the poison was administered, that is the root of the problem.

The episode comes together well at the end. I just wished the earlier part was more exciting and dramatic.

Madame Sara features Roger Delgado who was the Master in Jon Pertwee's Doctor Who stories. It also has Caroline John who was the third doctor's assistant.
