Working as welders at the Crosby Shipyards, but not recognizing each other on account of the heavy welder's masks, Herman and Lily start flirting with each other. Did You Know?

The historic origins of wedding anniversaries date back to the Holy Roman Empire, when husbands crowned their wives with a silver wreath on their 25th anniversary, and a gold wreath on the fiftieth. According to a list compiled by librarians at the Chicago Public Library's Information Center (December 2000), engraved marble or granite would be the traditional 90th Anniversary gift. Unfortunately, the list ends there. See more »

Grandpa: [points at a picture of a man standing under a noose] That's Uncle Boris alright. He was a real swinger.

Herman And Lily's 100th Anniversary
4 October 2018 | by Jimmy_the_Gent4See all my reviews

Herman and Lily want to get expensive presents for the other, so they both take part time jobs.

A funny episode with good scenes for the two leads. Some of the best moments occur at the employment agency where both Herman and Lily go. One interviewer flips his toupee at the sight of Herman. Both get jobs as welders at the shipyards. There are some funny scenes as they are unknown to each other due to the welder's masks. They end up flirting with each other. An interesting guest actor is Foster Brooks as the Admiral. Brooks later became famous as a night club and TV comic with a hilarious drunk act. He is unrecognizable here without his beard.
