Storyline

The Miller Sisters, ensemble orchestra and emcee Jackie Flash, are among a group of USO entertainers visiting at the 4077. Doubtful for once, Francis Mulcahy has a crisis of faith as he compares his life's work with that of Hawkeye. Serious for once, Dr. Pierce has good advice for the good father. Fun for once, Frank is the mad prankster, giggling wildly and trying to get a rise out of Hawkeye. Ignoring the 4077 for once, Radar and Henry pace the floors, awaiting the birth of Henry's son. A trio for once, Trapper, Margaret and Ugly John are rumored to have eloped; for days they have toiled to keep a patient alive. Ultimately, USO entertainers get to go home; for the team at the 4077, it is always "showtime." Written by LA-Lawyer

Goofs

When the gravely ill patient on whom Trapper operated is slipping away but suddenly stirs, Ugly John quickly puts on his stethoscope and grabs the patient's arm, listens for a few seconds, and says, "Blood pressure's still low...but it's better." However, Ugly John was listening to the patient's pulse, not his blood pressure, which would require a sphygmomanometer and would take a significantly longer time to ascertain than Ugly John allowed. Not A Great Entry
30 May 2009 | by DKosty123See all my reviews

This episode plays more like another pilot of the series only not as good as the original. It looks like the producers of the series were worried about the first season renewal for season two.

The ending really plays like it as they present a curtain all for regulars on the show. I guess it's just that Gelbart wasn't sure that the Saturday night ratings were going to be enough for a second year. In fact, this first season was the least viewed one until the syndication of the show started.

The musical back ground with the USO show is a good idea as it keeps plotting to a lite side for this episode. The show would do this again in a short time. Season 2 first episode plays like a pilot too.
