A very heartwarming Christmas special
24 December 2014 | by Rectangular_businessmanSee all my reviews

This is one of my favorite "Hey Arnold" episodes, along with "Parent's Day".

In this special episode, Mr.Hyunh's backstory turns out to be one of the saddest ones: I honestly think that most modern cartoons won't even dare to make a reference to Vietnam War and deal with the way in which military conflicts tear families apart. I'm sure some overprotective parents will find such kind of themes to be way too "intense" for their kids, but personally I think that is very important for children to learn that not everything in life is sunshine and lollipops.

Plus, this episode has a very good message of generosity and selflessness, which is a more than appropriate message for Christmas, instead of the banality and materialism often promoted in several holiday movies from the recent years.

The ending was quite sweet and heartwarming, and it is definitely one of my favorite scenes in the entire series.
