Trivia

From this show forward, Steve McGarrett gets much less air time in each telecast than he had in all of the previous shows (he returns full time for "Woe to Wo Fat", which is basically a three-character show). This may be because Jack Lord wanted to reduce his work load, or because the CBS-TV network ordered the producers to emphasize the new (and considerably younger) characters in hopes of creating a "New Hawaii Five-O" in the following year. Introducing Officer Wilson...1 and 2.
17 March 2014 | by MartinHaferSee all my reviews

This episode picks up immediately after the late one--with McGarrett STILL pressuring Carew (William Smith) to join Five-O. In a coincidence you only see on TV, a new member of the team, Kevin Wilson, is killed during an armed hold up--and his wife, an HPD Officer, witnessed this killing and tried to stop the gunmen. This is the coincidence I mentioned because Carew's wife and son had been murdered--now he tries to help Lori Wilson (Sharon Farrell) through her grief. But, like Carew, she doesn't want to sit back and wait--she's going to get the baddies! When McGarrett hears about this, he also tells her to stay out of the case. But, being a hot-heated widow, she's not about to do nothing.

This is a decent episode of the series, though as with Carew, you'd wonder why McGarrett would offer jobs to BOTH these cops by the end of the show. After all, they have the lone wolf mentality and haven't shown a lot in the way of teamwork. Worth seeing but not much more.
