Mrs Doyle wins the first prize in a poetry contest, a visit from the housewives' favourite matinee idol, crooner and presenter Eoin McLove who comes to serenade her. Unfortunately she has told one of her friends and Eoin and his assistant Patsy are soon besieged overnight in the Parochial House with the priests as scores of middle-aged women congregate to see their idol, eventually breaking in and pursuing them upstairs. They are only dispersed when Mrs Doyle reminds them that they must return home to get their husbands' breakfasts. As a result of the visit Ted gets to appear on Eoin's quiz show but fails to win the main prize by not knowing the Pope's real name. Written by don @ minifie-1

one of the funniest episodes
31 December 2006 | by upyoursosamaSee all my reviews

i love this episode to start with eoin mc love who has to be one of the funniest characters ever and is based on a real person and i never get over the joke about the women talking to misses Doyle 'may i be struck down with every disease known to a middle aged women and as you and i both know thats a hell of a lot of diseases'and there's the whole spoof of night of the living dead which i loved being a fan of George Romero's films in where they replace zombies with old and middle aged women and there constant repeating of the word eoin sounds like the moaning of zombies and there are interesting parallels between the 2 also there's the classic line 'i've no Willy'
