***SPOILERS*** Dick Tracy, Ralph Byrd, and his partner Sam Catchem, Joe Devlin, gets on the case of a gang of car thieves who are running a major carjacking ring in the city. Lead by Hijack, Holly Bare, the thieves steal cars repaint them and remover their engine identity serial numbers before they re-sell them to the unsuspecting public. HIjack being the cheapskate that the is has his #1 man in the operation Ruff, Riley Hill, work for peanuts by not giving him a fair share in the profits! In fact Hijack hasn't paid Ruff, who's job it is to falsify the engine serial numbers, for months and in keeping him in line locks up his tools, Ruff's stock & trade, after every job he pulls.

Feeling that he's being made a jerk of by his boss Hijack Ruff get's his fellow car thief Dolk, Ward Blackburn, the wheel-man of the operation to double-cross Hijack and take over the carjacking business all for themselves! That's until Dick Tracy Sam Catchem and car robbery victim Mr. Rones,Bob Rose, show up at Dolk & Ruff's garage checking for the car that Dolk, who shot and injured Mr. Rose, stole from him! It didn't take that long for Dolks cover to be blown by him trying to impress Tracy & Catchem as well as Mr. Rose in how honest he is. This had Mr.Rose, who was just about to leave the garage, notice the car battery in his car, that was re-painted and had its serial numbers changed, with his initials painted on it!

***SPOILERS*** With guns blazing in all directions both Dolk & Ruff were quickly dispatched by Tracy & Catchem and with that the Hijack's carjacking ring soon became history. Speaking of history actor Ralph Byrd who played Dick Tracy and was about to start his third season playing the legendary detective also became history less then three years later at age 43 dying of a massive heart attack on August 18, 1952 at his home in Tarzana CA.
