User Reviews

Very amusing tribute to the private eye genre
11 February 2016 | by searchanddestroy-1See all my reviews

It's absolutely a light comedy here, nothing noir at all, with plenty references to the movie or literature detectives; don't miss the opening sequence. Bob Cummings performance reminds me Jean Dujardin's one in the OSS 117 series. He is nothing of the authentic private eye as we usual see in the movies, but a gentle prick, nothing else than a awkward gumshoe. And that makes to the most interesting for my own point of view. The plot itself has no importance at all, as was the LONG GOODBYE one, where no one could understand anything at all, even Howard Hawks or Ray Chandler himself... So, just enjoy this delightful little episode with plenty of supporting characters played by famous Hollywood stars. Check on the cast list.
