Ponch gets a taste of his own medicine when he is given the assignment of training a new patrol officer, much like his earlier days when Jon had to train the difficult Poncherello. Ponch's problem is compounded by he fact the new officer is an attractive woman which makes his girlfriend jealous. A couple of purse snatchers work the crowds at the marina while some escaped felons are looking for buried treasure in an unusual place.

Ponch tells Melanie that she can change her pants at his apartment, which is only a couple of miles away, but Ponch lives in Marina del Rey, which is no closer than 15 miles from the Golden State Freeway (US-101 and I-5).
