After seeing retired astronaut Brigadier General Jim McDivitt speak about a UFO he saw while on a space mission, Peter and Bobby have UFO on the brain. That night, they believe they see a UFO in the sky. Without other witnesses, others are either uncertain or are skeptical as to Peter and Bobby's assertion. Peter and Bobby feel they need proof, and want to sleep outside in the back yard and take photographs if and when the UFO shows up again. Lo and behold, what Peter and Bobby saw the previous night comes back and they are able to take photographs of it. After the photographs are developed, Mike and Carol are still uncertain about what is on the photos, so Mike decides to call in the air force for their expert opinion. The visit of the air force's investigating Captain McCartney, who doesn't believe in UFOs, indirectly makes Peter and Bobby's UFO appear again, but it with a more down to earth explanation. Did You Know?

In the dream sequence of "Out of This World," the aliens come down in their ship and greet Bobby Brady, declaring to be from the planet Klaputius. This name is a reference to a major character called Klapaucius, an alien cyborg from the science-fiction novel 'The Cyberiad' by Polish writer Stanislaw Lem. Originally published in 1967 the novel had just been re-issued in English translation early in 1974, the year this episode was written and produced. See more »

At the end of the scene where the kids are eating breakfast, Marcia gets up to leave and jokingly tells Alice to offer any aliens who might land some flapjacks. She can be heard tongue-twisted, however, when saying "flapjacks" (it comes out closer to "flapglacks"), although nobody reacts to this and she doesn't stumble or miss a beat; it's as if it didn't happen. For whatever reason, this was neither re-shot, dubbed, or otherwise edited. See more »

Capt. McCartney: [looking at pictures of the alleged UFO] This could be anything. Weather balloon, reflection, swamp gas.
Bobby Brady: We don't have a swamp in our backyard.
