Audio/visual unsynchronised

(at around 31 mins) Shane, in the car with Connors says, "Yes, he was.", but his lips don't move.

Character error

When Connors is interviewing Gina he corrects her grammar, saying that "I don't know nothing" is a double negative, which infers a positive. It implies a positive.

Henry Czerny, who portrays the police captain, says "It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out" etc. He should have said either "rocket scientist" it brain surgeon" to make his point that something was easy to figure out.

Continuity

(at around 10 mins) The $10 that Connors puts on the diner table is soiled but the $10 that Derrek smells/holds is a new crisp note.

When Dekker wrecks the bike, we see Richards driving on, with the Cafe' Orca on the left and Winfield college on the right. The truck travels a bit past an intersection where Conners hits the truck in a police car, and Richards' truck ends up between Cafe' Orca and Winfield college again.

During the chase on the motorbike, after Shane breaks through the glass door, in some of the shots his jacket has some shattered glass on the shoulders and in some it does not.

The cuts on Decker's face and hand keep changing throughout the movie, sometimes during the same scene.

At 5:00, the truck with the bank robbers pulls a U-turn and clearly comes to a stop on the crosswalk at the corner, right before a traffic light post; it is even shown from the aerial camera as they exit the truck. On the next shot from what could be a rooftop across the street, the truck is parked some 50 feet before the crosswalk and the traffic light post cannot be seen..

Crew or equipment visible

When Chris Lei is attacked by Lorenz, a few film shots are shown of the inside of the house where the attack takes place. In the shot showing the staircase the light through the windows reflects the shadow of a crewman upon the floor, who quickly ducks out of sight.

Errors in geography

During the apartment shootout, Jason Statham's character dives into a room and a "Panago" pizza box can be seen on the table. Panago pizza only has locations in Canada, not Seattle, where the movie is set.

During the chase scene an overhead road sign shows "W. Cordova" which is a street in Vancouver, BC, Canada.

Factual errors

When Connors and Dekker meet the female detective after the shootout in the apartment block, the detective shakes hands with them. Not only is she dusting finger prints (which is not necessary as he owns the apartments), but wearing her gloves, she shakes hands with Dekker. This doesn't happen in real life, because the purpose of the gloves is to stop contamination.

Again in the newspaper clippings, and much worse than omitting the apostrophe from victims', is the one saying "Call to Reign in 'Cowboy Cops'". This patently should be Rein, not Reign. No editor worthy of the name would let that one by.

In the opening scene where we see the newspaper clippings, one of them is titled "Victims Family..." This is grammatically incorrect: it should be "Victim's Family" (if talking about one victim) or "Victims' Family" (if talking about more than one victim belonging to the same family).

The light bars on the police cruisers are incorrect for Seattle cars, they had the normal smooth type.

Plot holes

When Lorenz and his team go into the bank, they don't put their masks on until after they look around. The police would have been able to identify them from that part of the security video.

Dax states: [The virus] randomly withdraws money from all the accounts and deposits it into the bad guys' account. If you check the transactions, no two withdrawal amounts are the same and none of'em are over $100.

He claims close to one billion dollars was stolen, however the maximum amount that can be moved using this technique is equal to the sum of all possible amounts equal to or less than the maximum amount permitted. This can be calculated with: n(n+1)/2, where n is the maximum amount expressed in the minimum transferable unit, one cent. The maximum quantity of money the criminals could have stolen is therefore 10 000(10 000)/2 which is exactly $500,050, far short of the $1,000,000,000 claimed. I have to say I expected better from a film that takes it name from a branch of mathematics.

Revealing mistakes

The composition shot of the newspaper articles in the beginning of the film detailing the accidental shooting have different headlines to advance the storyline, but the article contents are identical on each clipping, and have to do with the stock market, not a murder.

In the final scene where Conners boards the escape private jet, the first shot clearly reveals that the private jet is smaller than the jet shown in the interior. In the first shot you can see the stewardess is bigger that the body of the plane, but in the inside she has got around one head above her.

(at around 35 mins) Dekker is riding a motorcycle through a parking garage. He decides to break out through a glass door, with a wheelchair sign on it, if you watch closely, the glass breaks just before the motorcycle even hits it. The bar used to smash it can be seen in the top right corner of the glass.

While talking about tracing a cellphone, a character says it could be traced to within 30 meters. Since the film is set in the U.S., he would have used feet or yards, not meters. This reveals the film was shot in Canada, which uses the metric system.

Spoilers

The goof items below may give away important plot points.

Character error

At the house explosion, Dekker is injured on the left side of his head and there is a lot of blood. He doesn't get bandaged, or even treated, no one comments on this, and the blood is there for the rest of the movie.

Continuity

When York is confronted at the diner by the two detectives, they have him at gunpoint and are some distance apart. Reaction is slower than action, so in the time it took for York to pull and fire, either or both detectives could have fired, yet York was the only one that got off a shot. This would have been plausible if both detectives had their guns holstered, but neither one did.

Factual errors

Around 78 minutes (1:18), Shane Dekker (Ryan Phillippe) finds out that approximately $1 Billion has been stolen. He says, "I think this is beyond our jurisdiction. Not only is he correct, after the bank robbery, the FBI was not handling the case. The FBI is involved with all bank robberies (or attempted ones). This is clearly a factual error, and a very large one at that.

Plot holes

Around 80 minutes, Detective Shane Dekker (Ryan Phillippe) has just found out that over $1 Billion dollars has been stolen via a complex computer virus/program. The Captain (Henry Czerny) passes by shortly after this, as he is leaving for the day. Detective Decker doesn't even mention a $ Billion dollars has been stolen to him. The Captain tells the Detective, "You did good today Shane. You're father would be proud of you. Go on home, detective. There will be more bad guys for you tomorrow." The detective not even mentioning the tremendous heist to the captain is a huge hole in the plot.

Revealing mistakes

Around 94 minutes, Det. Decker (Ryan Phillippe) notices the bank note has a scent, implicating Det. Conners (Jason Statham). This note in question was used, not fresh, the first time Conners used it. When Dekker notices it, the same note is freshly crisp. It is obviously a different note.
