Snatcher is an action-adventure game made by Konami. Hero Gillian Seed is working for a police organization named JUNKERS (Japanese Undercover Neuro-Cinetic Elimination Rangers). He is investigating the Snatcher-cases. Snatchers are Terminator-like robots, who eliminate people and take their places afterwards. Snatcher was the second game written and directed by Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid). The game is mainly played from the first-person-perspective. The player has the following commands to use: "Look", "Investigate", "Talk", "Ask", and "Move" (there are additional options appearing, too, though), furthermore you have to purchase key items or gain important information from other people.

The PC88 and MSX versions are virtually identical, aside from a few subtle differences. The game's visual window is four pixels wider on the PC88 version (384x200) compared to the MSX (352x200), showing a bit more of the scenery. The PC88 version uses the hardware's internal FM chip, while the MSX version came with a proprietiary sound cartridge using the Konami-developed SCC (Sound Creative Chip) chip. The loading times are also much shorter on the PC88. The "Team MetalSlave" logo in the beginning of the PC88 version is absent from the MSX version. Both of the original versions of the game had a name entry function that was taken out in subsequent versions, when actual speech were added to the game. See more
