Scarlett Pomers (Kyra) went into treatment for an eating disorder, and therefore only appeared in two episodes of season five. When she returned in season six, jokes were made about Kyra's absence, such as Van asking where she's been, to which Kyra replied, "I went to get something to eat."

JoAnna Garcia Swisher (Cheyenne) and Steve Howey (Van) appeared in a music video for Reba and Kenny Chesney's song, "Every Other Weekend" together. The two were unnamed, but played a divorced couple that share custody of their children, and exchange them every other weekend. Despite the fact that they are divorced, both characters state that they still love each other, but are unable to tell each other in front of their children, because of the questions that would arise.
