Storyline

Winnie Foster has everything a young woman could desire. She comes from a well-bred, wealthy, and respected family. She dresses in the finest clothes and is afforded every opportunity to refine herself. But Winnie finds that the heat of summer is not nearly as stifling as her gilded cage. She longs for freedom, for adventure. She escapes one morning to explore the woods surrounding her family's home, and encounters the Tucks, a close-knit family with a mysterious past that begs the question: If you could live forever, would you? And just when Winnie believes she has answered that question for herself, a mysterious man looking to profit from the source of the Tuck's immortality that will have her question her life, her desires, and what is the right thing to do. And in the end, learns, that death is not what is to be feared, but an unlived life. Written by Alyssa B.

Quotes

Winnie: I can't swim.
Jesse: You're joshing me!
Winnie: I wish I were.
Jesse: So, you're afraid you'll drown, right? Swallow too much water, sink to the bottom and die!
Winnie: Thank you for putting it so vividly, and yes, considering I'd sink like a rock, drowning is a fair concern!
Jesse: Well, I guess I'm just gonna have to enjoy this all by myself.

Nice, But Could Have Been......
8 September 2006 | by ccthemovieman-1See all my reviews

Make no mistake: this is a nice movie, but it's one of those films you can't help but feel could have been so much better.

The first 20 minutes was very promising with spectacular scenery, overall cinematography and interesting characters. But, it started to slow down and then just bogged down more and more with a teen romance. Yes, it finished fairly well but unless you are a teen or 20-something young woman, I doubt this film will hold your interest.

Perhaps even for some women, this movie did not turn out as dramatically as it should have been. It's just too flat. Too bad; it looked like a "keeper' for awhile.
