Storyline

This Flemish soap avant-la-lettre elaborates on the adventures of the blond rascal Lewie (a Dutch derivative of Louis), the title character of Ernest Claes' hit-novel (twice filmed, before and after this series), whose eternal mischief not only asks for punishment (which he often gets) but makes life difficult for his family, friends, people at school and the other inhabitants of the devout Catholic village, who in this version also get numerous other story-lines on the usual general human themes such as affection, jealousy, greed, family - and social life. great series. Must be seen
24 June 2008 | by heyvaert-lucSee all my reviews

fantastic TV-series. Very authentic. A must for everyone who wants to know more about life in rural Flanders in those days, and social, religion, and political situation in Belgium. Great acting performances Great casting. Wonderful setting in the beautiful region of Zichem. Magnificent production and direction Great performance of the late Luc Philips as the priest Munte, Jo De Meyere as Herman Coene and many others. One of the first roles of the great Jan Decleir, probably the greatest Belgian actor ever. I won't spoil your pleasure by saying anything about the plot but if you haven't seen this production you really missed something.
