Trivia

A level was storyboarded but never completed where Dirk was on a pirate ship. Because of the lapse in production, the model ship required for filming the scene was lost by the time filming of it would've taken place. Without the ship the scene couldn't be done and the level was skipped. However the storyboards for the sequence found itself in a few books and in the Blu-Ray. See more »

Quotes

Mordroc: Ah-ha! Hahahaha! So, dear brother, you bring Dirk here? Caligenous, clanking piece of junk! Boil in the mud, you meddling, old fool! Dirk will be helpless, once you've been sunk! Hahahahahahaha!

Alternate Versions

The DVD version contains the alternate version of the final level from the pre-production version where Princess Daphne doesn't turn into a monster but Dirk still fights Mordroc anyway and it ends with Mordroc getting the death ring in his finger but this time Dirk doesn't escape the Daphne monster but Mordroc ends up bubbling up until he bursts while the final version has him turn into a monster while Dirk dodges the Daphne-monster and Dirk blows up Mordroc with his sword. A technical marvel
21 June 2001 | by Nutri-GrainSee all my reviews

The Dragon's Lair and Space Ace series were an amazing breakthrough in video game history. The third installment, Dragon's Lair II, was by far the best. With beautiful animation and well-acted voices, this one forced me to waste away my quarters at the old local arcade. Although now scarce, this arcade game was and still is the best video game ever!
