Transparent Recap: Good Yontif

Transparent Recap: Good Yontif
The last few episodes of Transparent stick to a similar structural pattern: They follow the Pfeffermans in smaller groups, telling discrete stories about each character that occasionally overlap with one another. While Maura has been off in Davina's turret, Josh and Raquel are watching their relationship implode, and Ali is exploring cultural lesbianism in L.A. Who even knows what Sarah is doing.I bring this up because "The Book of Life" is the first episode to break that pattern since the season's earliest installments. After spending the day apart, the family comes together to break their fast around a table, and it's the most intimate Pfefferman gathering we've seen for quite some time. Before we get there, though, the episode follows each family member as they fast and observe the Day of Atonement in their own ways. Sarah begins by arriving unannounced at Tammy's design firm, insisting that Tammy

Few Musicals Have Been Nominated for Adapted or Original Screenplay

By Anjelica Oswald

Into the Woods, Disney’s adaptation of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Broadway musical, could land an Oscar nomination for its screenplay, which was adapted by Lapine. It may be a stretch for Into the Woods to land in the top five, though. Adapted — or even original — musical screenplays may be discounted for the music in the Oscar race, which might be why few musicals are nominated for adapted or original screenplay. Twelve musicals have been nominated for adapted screenplay since 1929, but 2002’s Chicago was the last musical to do so.

Adapted from Bob Fosse and Fred Ebb’s 1975 musical of the same name, Chicago won six of its 13 nominations, including best picture. It was the first musical since 1968’s Oliver! to win best picture, but its screenplay lost to The Pianist.

Carol Reed’s Oliver! was nominated for 11 Oscars and won five. It

Kutcher attempts to make amends with Moore at campfire counseling - Realbollywood.com News
Washington, Oct 11: Ashton Kutcher decided to make amends for cheating on his love, Demi Moore by reuniting for a campfire counselling during the weekend.

Kutcher, 33, chose Yom Kippur, the holiest and most solemn day of the year for Jews, to beg his heartbroken wife Demi Moore for forgiveness at a campfire in Santa Barbara, California.

The actor used the Day of Atonement to make amends for his ultimate sin: cheating on Demi with Sara Leal on Sept 24, the morning of their sixth anniversary.

The fireside chat is one of the rare times the embattled pair has been seen photographed together in three months and since news broke of Ashton's wild hot-tub party awash with booze and blondes.

  • Pop2it
This Friday (Oct. 7) was Yom Kippur, the Jewish holiday referred to as the Day of Atonement. "Two and a Half Men" star and Kabbalah devotee Ashton Kutcher apparently used the day to express his regret for his reported infidelities.

Star Magazine has exclusive pictures featuring Kutcher and wife Demi Moore on a camping trip in Santa Barbara, Calif. The pictures mark the first time the couple has been photographed together in three months.

Moore appears extremely agitated that a nearby camper was snapping photos, as several of the pictures feature her aggressively approaching the cameraperson. According to reports, Moore confronted the photographer, screaming "

lease don't take photos of me or my family. Please don't expose this." The photographer observed that "once she knew she had been photographed, she whistled at Ashton and gestured for him to hurry into the tent."

Moore and Kutcher have both been recently spotted wearing their

Mike Gold: 24-Hour Comics Day — Before

  • Comicmix
This weekend includes at least three elements: the Jewish holy week between the New Year and the Day of Atonement, the weekend, and 24-Hour Comics Day.

I note that first part just in case somebody reads this to my mother. Hi, Mom!

24-Hour Comics Day was created by Scott McCloud and it is exactly what the name implies: comics creators get together in local conclaves (not autoclaves; that’s a completely different thing) “to create a 24-page comic book in 24 continuous hours.” It’s sort of a tribute to the days of yore when a creator would get an emergency over-the-weekend assignment and get a bunch of friends together to write, pencil, ink, letter and color the entire book over the weekend, deliver it on Monday, and hopefully get paid for their effort.

Of course, way back then comic books ran 64 pages – 48 pages after World War II hit speed. But
