When Dr. Hogue is having his heart attack and Dr. Stone uses the defibrillator paddles on him, he tells Nurse Packard to set the machine to "400 Watts." Defibrillation magnitude is measured in joules and/or watt-seconds. While older defibrillators could deliver a maximum of 400 joules the model defibrillator shown in the film (a Physio-Control LifePak 5) could only deliver a maximum of 360 joules.
Contrary to what Lou says, deer are not repelled by the scent of human urine.
Ben hands Lou a small bouquet of pink flowers, which she informs him are protected because they are the state flower. South Carolina's state flower is actually Carolina jessamine, which is a yellow flowering vine.
Continuity
Doc Stone's breakfast disappears between shots when he is being offered a position by the City Council.
When Dr. Stone races from his office to meet the girl in the restaurant, he passes two women on the sidewalk. He then runs across the street and passes the same two women.
When Ben and Lou are slow dancing, the white ribbon in Lou's hair gets longer at the end of the dance.
When Doc is outside the cabin, a hood is seen on the back of his brown coat. When he gets inside to meet the welcoming committee, the hood is no longer visible.
(at around 10 mins) When Dr. Stone first walks into the hospital, there is no time clock under Dr. Hogue's picture - but on the next visit to the hospital, at about 21 mins, we see the time clock. It's not like the time clock was put there for Dr. Stone because of his community service, as there are several other time cards also.
In the beginning of film, during titles, Stone is driving and stops in traffic. He is wearing a dark brown jacket, but as he stands up to view traffic the jacket has disappeared.
When Dr. Stone realizes he needs to get the pig back, he goes to Melvin's garage and then the butcher shop; both of these scenes are set in the dark, but when he picks Lou up, it's twilight, yet all this happens in the same day.
In the restaurant, before and after the mayor holds the town council meeting in order to offer Dr. Stone a salary, the catsup bottle moves closer to / further from the napkin dispenser between every shot. Also the orientation of the napkin dispenser changes from face on / side to Dr. Stone.
When Stone first enters the exam room while Dr. Hogue is having a heart attack, Hogue has his right arm (with the blood pressure cuff) down by his side. When the angle changes, the same arm is suddenly up across his chest.
When Kyle & Mary Owens come to see Dr Stone to have him read their mail, they say it's because they can't read. Later, when Mary is giving birth and Kyle goes to Dr Stone's car to get shirts, Kyle is able to read the Armani label.
Crew or equipment visible
During the opening credits, you can see the reflection of the camera/crane on the car Dr. Stone is driving. It appears in the lower left corner of the screen for about 1 second.
Errors in geography
Unless he mistook Hollywood, Florida, for Hollywood, California, anyone traveling from D.C. to L.A. wouldn't come within 500 miles of South Carolina.
Factual errors
In delivering the baby, Stone reverses a breech birth, yet the first appendage he grabs is a leg.
The judge sentences Dr. Stone to community service as a doctor because he's "a licensed physician." However, since medical licensing is by state, it is highly unlikely Stone would just happen to be licensed in South Carolina.
Near the beginning of the film, when Ben goes outside his cabin toward the lake, there is nothing visible on the path as he sits down. After Lou emerges topless from the lake, and has her exchange with Ben, she then reaches down to pick up a robe to cover herself. The robe would have been clearly evident to Ben as he approached the lake, but there was nothing in the prior shot of the path.
Miscellaneous
When Dr. Stone is giving the injection to the guy fighting with the other one (during the house call montage), you can see water (or a liquid substance) splashing to the ground (on the right side, next to the guy's head), therefore showing that it's not a real needle and not a real injection.
At the trial, the flags behind Judge Evans are improperly placed, with the National Colors, a.k.a., American flag on the right, instead of the left. And the South Carolina flag is on the left, instead of its proper place on the right.
Revealing mistakes
When Lou drives Ben to his house call, she steps out of the ambulance, and a cushion (from where the accelerator and brake pedals would be) falls out of the door.
During the boat scene, dim images of the background fireworks are seen playing across the front of the actors.
