He interviewed the cast, crew and attendees for a special segment, including Sybil Danning and Dukey Flyswatter. He did not know who Linnea Quigley was and simply credited her as "Chainsaw Hooker".

Linnea Quigley had read for parts in several other films directed by Fred Olen Ray, but never got cast. When Michelle Bauer mentioned that she knew him, Linnea asked that she introduce her. She was cast as Samantha in this film because she had an innocent quality and reminded him of Goldie Hawn, another petite Hollywood blonde.

The scene between Lisa (Esther Elise) and Hermie (Fox Harris) was filmed at Fred Olen Ray's apartment. The script was being written in the living room while they were shooting the chainsaw scene in the bathroom. Fred Olen Ray's neighbors at the time were Jeffrey Combs (from Re-Animator) and Edie McClurg (from Elvira: Mistress of the Dark).

The original title was "Chainsaw Hookers", but the video distribution company that provided part of the funding (LA Video) wanted the word "Hollywood" in the title. When the film was released in the UK, it was called "Hollywood Hookers" because it was illegal to use the word "Chainsaw" in a movie title. Instead, they used a picture of a chainsaw in place of the word.

Spoilers

The trivia item below may give away important plot points.

During the climactic cult ceremony, the set appears to be filled with smoke. In reality, it's exhaust from the chainsaws weilded by Linnea Quigley during the Virgin Dance of the Double Chainsaws. She had to start them before she went into the tomb because she couldn't start one without putting down the other. As a result, she was inside the tomb with two running chainsaws. The exhaust was so overwhelming that she became lightheaded. You can actually see her stumble when she emerges from the tomb.
