Storyline

Thelma Harper and her spinster sister Fran open their home to Thelma's recently divorced son Vinton and his teenage son and daughter. It's quite an adjustment for everyone, especially the cranky, argumentative Thelma. Written by Kevin Ackley <kackley1@aol.com>

Alternate Versions

When released to syndication in 1986, all Season 1 and 2 episodes were changed to match up with the new, first-run episodes. The original introductions by Harvey Korman as Alistair Quince were removed and the original opening credits were altered to match the ones on the first run episodes. In addition, the closing tag shot of the exterior of the Harper house seen at the end of the each episode, was replaced by a new closing tag shot of the exterior of the Harper house as seen in the first-run syndicated episodes, along with new closing credits in the same style as used on the the syndicated first-run episodes. The Warner Home Video season 1 DVD release has the episodes in their syndicated version, but season 1 was reissued by StarVista, along with season 2, in their original network broadcast versions in 2013. mama 2 me is?....
23 March 2005 | by allen018See all my reviews

..Mama's Family is by far the best t.v show in re-runs right now..of course it's good clean fun...and it's hilarious...but lets face it .. the characters are perfect,Vinton plays a great Mama's boy...& Naomi could not have been better for Vint...the loose ,floozy type is the perfect contrast to any old fashioned grandmother, the fact that it's Mama is priceless.....Now any fan knows there are 2 different mama's family shows....pre Bubba, and post Bubba....watching Bubba's character develop is such a great transformation ..he not only becomes a good actor, but a great addition to the show...along with Iola..Borlyn,(I think that's right,no D at the end).. ...I have seen every episode at least 5-6 times, and i continue to tape the episodes off tbs in the AM..at this point I must have 25-30 tapes with every episode 3times over ,just in case they don't wise up and ..PUT THE SHOW ON DVD ALREADY!!!!..well I know I'm safe ..and if I wear out my tapes...I got plenty more.... ..there is just something about the show that makes my day start out right,2 episodes of Mama, and I'm good to go ,until tomorrow...and I love watching and thinking to myself ,what a great show that has stood the test of time,easily...how funny is it when Bubba wears the tee with his name iron-ed on the front in the 80's glitter ...and the true viewers know the episode where mama says.."no,at my house when the phone rings I run in circles yellin what'll I do ,what'll I do,what'll I do!!! GOTTA LOVE MAMA,and my mama t-shirt gets more compliments than any other tee I own...I have so much more to say but I'll quit now..as long as it airs I'll watch ..and when it 's pulled I'll probably watch more...thanks
